SATS Information

This term in school...

This half term we're looking at Fairtrade.

We have been looking at the continent of Africa and comparing it to Europe and the UK. We've also been reading 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne and have created our own books to share with the reception children on World Book Day.

In Years 1 and 2 we had some visitors from the Peace Centre to deliver sessions on 'Tiny Steps for Peace'. In the sessions we learned how to make anyone -even aliens! - feel welcome.

In P.E. we've been working on our static balance, practising balancing as carefully as we can on a range on a range of different pieces of equipment.

Poetry Recital - Katie Morag

In Years 1 and 2 we have been enjoying reading all about Katie Morag. We shared our love of these books with our parents during our poetry recital. We even made our own porridge just like Katie does!

Meet the Teacher

A big thank you to all parents who attended 'Meet the Teacher'. For those of you who couldn't attend, or would just like a recap of the information shared with you, see below.

Mathletics is a great programme to use in school and at home. It is designed to develop and improve all areas of mathematics from arithmetic to problem solving. It will be targeted to your child's particular year group and ability. Children can access this at home using their own log-in and can earn certificates each week. The maths class with the most points in a week also recieves the Mathletics Trophy.

Each half term, the children have a set of spellings to learn. Here is a list of those spelling. The list can also be found in the children's planners.
