COMMUNICATION– UPDATE October 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

In the parent /carer questionnaire Summer 2025 we had a few responses requesting that we simplify our communication methods with you, as people were receiving e-mails, TEAMS messages plus our SPIDER texts and the occasional paper letter. We also have our weekly newsletter and for general information about the working of the school, our website.

We are legally obliged to have a website to publish certain information; our weekly newsletter goes out via SPIDER and the latter (from comments received) is valued, so we will retain both of those. Paper letters are rare now but for some purposes -usually to permit anonymity of responses to surveys etc – we will occasionally still send them. But we will make some changes otherwise thus:

MS TEAMS: The class TEAMS pages are used for Reception – Y6 children for some homework-setting and general reminders to all children etc. Any messages related to a specific pupil personal matter obviously should not be written on the class TEAMS page but communicated in person, by telephone or e-mail.

Please note that the ’Chat’ function on TEAMS is being disabled from 24th October 2025 to simplify our communication methods. Teachers will send SPIDER messages instead to notify all of general need-to-know information.

E-mail: You should e-mail the School office on [email protected] for all enquires to teachers / the school in general and also where you have a safeguarding or other concern and can’t get through on the telephone. Messages for teachers will be passed on to them, and if they are absent your query will be brought to the attention of a senior member of staff. This method, and the telephone, is the necessary option for a same-day / next working day response during the working week.

In person: You may of course speak to your child’s teacher to share very brief messages / information at the start and end of the school day, bearing in mind that they cannot discuss serious or extensive matters when they have a waiting class to teach or an after-hours meeting to attend. If there are pressing and serious matters please arrange an appointment to meet; this should be arranged via e-mail or telephone.

Teachers can’t take telephone calls during lessons obviously but our Office staff will pass on messages for them.

By notes in planners:  You can write in your child’s planner general information queries; it is best not to rely on this for anything urgent as they may not be reviewed by the teacher until the end of the school day.
